People across the world are struggling. The economy is definitely in a period of slower growth. Too many people are living on the edge. And that has caused some challenges. I see a few problems. One, people are often unwilling to change. They keep moving in the same direction even though the results they are getting are not working. Why aren't they willing to change? Some people are just plain lazy. Others are fearful. They don't know will happen if they change. If you keep doing what you've been doing, you'll keep getting what you've been getting. But, even that is no longer true. For many people, they are getting less and less. And I particularly see that with small businesses. When the economy slows down, large companies lay off people to reduce costs. Small businesses don't have that luxury since many are solopreneurs. They have no employees to lay off. While a large company can sustain a loss in business, a small company often cannot. Their problem can only be solved by finding new clients and customers. They need to get to work on marketing their business. So what can you do if you find yourself in a rut? There are a few simple steps that can help you move forward. Key #1: Simplify Human beings today have very complex lives. We are bogged down with so many burdens it's tough to make progress moving forward. The first step is to simply reduce the number of commitments you have. Whose life is it anyway? It's time to take charge of your life. Look for areas where you are spending time but not getting much in return. What's dragging you down? This is the classic example of not prioritizing the important things in your life. If you were spending enough time on the most important things, what would you have to let go? Key #2: Brainstorm Once you have made progress on simplifying things, it's time to brainstorm solutions to move forward in your business and your life. Once you clear out the cobwebs, it will create some space for creativity. Make a list and prioritize. Select one of your top 3 items to work on. Create a short action plan and then block out some time. Key #3: Take Action Now here's where things really get interesting. You have to take action. Nothing happens until you take action. This is where fear usually grips us and holds us back. You need to breakthrough your fears to move forward. It's the only way you'll get a different result. Whatever obstacles your currently facing in your life or in your business, you can make progress and move forward. You just need to simplify, brainstorm and take action. Rick S.
