Change, for lack of a better word, is good. As humans, we often get bogged down in life and get stuck. In order to move forward, you must do something different. But, how do you get yourself moving forward quickly and easily. Here are some tips:
Tip #1: Clean and Purge
One of the simplest things you can do to make a difference is to clean and purge your home, your car and your office. The best approach is to pick one area and then work on it in blocks of time. You can work in 15 minute increments or block out a whole hour. Use a timer to ensure that you stay on task.
Do you believe in Feng Shui? If so, then simply cleaning, filing and purging will create new energy in your environment.
Tip #2: Change your Relationships
Don't bring me down! Do your friends whine and complain? Do they nitpick and criticize? If so, it might be time to find some new friends. It's a little more complicated with family, but you can choose how much time to spend with them. Invest some time in cultivating healthy relationships with ambitious, successful people. Their energy will propel you forward. Just be careful not to whine and complain, otherwise they will want to spend less time with you.
Tip #3: Implement a New Technology
A quick way to increase your productivity and effectiveness is to implement a new technology. Be careful about how many changes you make at once. Allow time to evaluate alternatives and then choose the best tool. Take time to learn to use the technology effectively. If the change is complex, like switching to a new contact management system, then create a project plan to list all of the tasks involved to complete the change.
Tip #4: End a Failing Project
One of the best changes you can make is to end a failing project. People make bad decisions. When something is not working and there is no hope to make the situation better, it's time to call it quits. There is a lot of negative energy tied up in a failed project, product or business. Putting an end to it will free up your energy and creativity. That will propel you forward.
Tip #5: Change your Environment
Your environment has an effect on you. The effect is subtle, but it is there. It's good to change your environment from time to time. Making a change can be as simple as replacing a piece of furniture or moving something around. It could involve painting a room or cleaning out a closet. The point is a subtle change can have a positive impact. It keeps things fresh and that keeps you energized.
Change is good, although it takes some time and effort. Often the change is not just limited to what is being changed, but it related to how you perceive your life.
