How much time do you spend on those activities each week? If the answer is “not very much time” then you may have your priorities in the wrong place. Most people have to work, either at a job or in your own business. You have family commitments and you're probably trying to make the world a better place. But, you also have a commitment to yourself to pursue your passion. This is what makes your heart sing and enables you to leap out of bed in the morning. If you hit the snooze button for the fourth time, I’m guessing you’re probably not pursuing your life’s passion. So, there’s a whole realm of becoming effective and productive in a way that is right for your life. And if you are not there yet, then it may be time to seek help. There are life coaches, career coaches and success coaches who specialize in helping you get clear about what you want to accomplish in your life and getting to it. It’s okay to ask for help. You will also begin to understand that pursuing your life’s passion may involve taking some risks. I can tell you first hand that starting my business four years ago was fraught with risk. It’s been an up and down journey that has been very challenging times. But, I have persevered. I am committed to my passion and I’m living my life’s dream every day. Can you say that? If not, what steps will you take today to get there? The topic at hand is PDA Productivity. But, I think it’s important to lay the foundation first before jumping in. Productivity and effectiveness are different goals. You can be productive without being effective. Effectiveness depends on getting results that you want. It usually begins with setting goals, then making a plan, then prioritizing and then taking action. PDA is an acronym for personal digital assistant. I have another definition that PDA stands for Productivity, Discipline and Action. When you get to the stage that you have set goals, planned and prioritized, you have reached the point that productivity is critical. It’s all about getting more done in less time. And that hinges on having the discipline to take action on a consistent basis. Your PDA, whether it be a Palm, Blackberry or Windows Mobile device is a productivity tool that can help you accelerate your efforts to take action on a consistent basis. It can also be useful in helping you set goals, plan and prioritize. You can create a memo on your PDA to store your goals. That way, they will always be accessible for you to review. You can also use a memo to create an action plan. Another way to look at an action plan is as a series of tasks. So, you can add tasks to your To Do List and then prioritize those tasks on a daily or weekly basis. If you take these steps, you will be head and shoulders above the rest in terms of accelerating your productivity. And remember, there’s more than one method or process. You need to find an approach that will work for you. Rick S. Cooper, MBA, is The Sales Results Expert.
